Teenager Arrested Over Mass Faculty Bomb Hoax

After a huge bomb hoax shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK, the teen believed to be at the heart of an Minecraft gamers' dispute was arrested.



Hertfordshire police detained the 19-year-old following 24,000 threats to schools were warned of a bomb attack , and asking for cash.



These emails appeared to be sent by VeltPvP the gaming network. VeltPvP is an Minecraft player-versus-player server of the type that businesses utilize to sell their products to gamers.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) said that there was no real threat to the emails that were received this week.

They said in a statement"We understand teachers and parents concerns, but we want to stress that there was no real threat to the schools' emails. Minecraft servers

The parties involved in the fight claimed that the rivals were involved in illegal acts to hinder one another's businesses.

The blame is being placed on VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed that the network was involved in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which he alleges were used to attempt to shut down other rival Minecraft servers.



Parents were asked to collect their children following the threat to bomb hoax in the email



VeltPvP issued a statement stating that they were being targeted and hounded by cybercriminals.



"We are extremely sorry for those who were affected by this, but we just want to let you know that this is not real."



The email was sent to more than 400 colleges and universities across the nation. It claimed that a bomb had already been planted and would explode if the money wasn't given.



Cardinal Road School in Feltham, west London was one of the schools who received the hoax email.



Police forces in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Bedfordshire and the the North East were among those investigating.



Parents at some schools requested to be able to pick their children up due to fears about the emails.



Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School and Valley School.
