Minecraft And Screencastify Install
Students will be able login to Minecraft: Education Edition with their AISD email address. This information is available in the User Profile menu on the AISD Portal. When a student has entered an AISD email the student will be required to input their student ID and password in an AISD Portal pop-up window. This will happen regardless of the device that the student is using.

Directions For Installing On Austin ISD Student Chromebooks
Austin ISD Chromebooks capable of running the Android version of Minecraft: Education Edition will need to first access the Minecraft installation page from the Google Play Store. Chromebooks for students should be able to find the Google Play icon in the Chromebook Shelf at the lower right of the screen.
Only district approved apps are available for download in the Google Play store app. Click on the Minecraft Install button in Google Play.

Instructions for Installing On Non-Austin ISD Windows Computers
Click the purple Windows button to download Minecraft Education Edition Windows Desktop Edition. You will need to locate the downloaded file, then open it. (It should either be in a new tab at the bottom of the browser or within the Windows Downloads folder.)
The Windows operating system will guide you through an installation process. Select your language and then accept the End-User License Agreement. Continue clicking Next until you are asked to click the "Install" button. It is possible for the installation to take a while before you see the Finish button. This will end the installation.
Instructions for Installing on Macintosh Computers
Click the purple MAC button to download Minecraft Education Edition for Macintosh. The downloaded file should be opened and located. It should be in the Downloads folder or a new tab at the bottom.
The Macintosh operating systems will guide you through the installation process. Select your language and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue to click Next until are required to click the Install button. The installation can take a while before you are able to click the Finish button which will close the installation.

Students can access Minecraft on an Austin ISD student iPad once their teacher has installed Minecraft: Education Edition app on their AISD iPad. Locate the app in the Creator Apps group on the iPad during school hours.

Installing the Screencastify Screen Capture Extension
One valuable way to help demonstrate learning is to record live demonstrations of that learning in video. Screen capture video is a great way to show an online activity to students or teachers to capture an electronic product using their recorded voice to describe it.
Screencastify is an Austin ISD approved Chrome extension and students and staff members have the option of installing the extension on their own from the Chrome Web Store.
Instructions for Students Installing Screencastify
Austin ISD students have access to the Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store from which any of the approved apps can be installed. This is the only method to install an Chrome extension or Chrome app on an Austin ISD Chromebook. On the Chromebook start the Chrome launcher, find and open the Chrome Web Store app. Click the Austin Independent School District link to access the library of approved apps. Install and locate Screencastify from this page.

Capture Your Video
Students can create videos that are up to 5 minutes in length once the Screencastify extension is installed. Practice your group presentation before recording. Remember, the presentation video should not exceed two minutes long. The video below demonstrates what it could look like when capturing the video of your world.
Optional Editing of Your Video
You can be as imaginative as you like when creating your world or recording your video. Some students may wish to make changes to the Screencastify video. Your AISD account includes a basic video editor. Screencastify's Support page gives more information about editing video.
